AVIATION LOGISTICS FOCAL POINT
Our client, a Major Oil and Gas Operator is seeking an Aviation Logistics Focal Point. It is an ongoing PAYE contract role initially until 30th June 2027. The role reports into the Logistics Manager. This is a key position with high financial and safety accountability. Extensive previous experience is a must.
The role:
Provides leadership, guidance, and supervision of the SCM Logistics Team supporting company UKCS assets. Responsible for the management and delivery of primarily, but not limited to, all aviation transportation and contracted assets.
Promote best practice in aviation logistics operations, ensuring standards are aligned to industry guidelines and in compliance with legislation.
Support contractor performance management, ensuring appropriate tools and techniques are utilised, including commercial negotiation acumen.
Aviation contract focal point for outsourced logistics management services acting as the interface between Contractors and Client operational teams.
Promoting value added services to contracting strategies, through use of contractor market intelligence, maintaining supplier relationships and measuring and contributing to contractor performance management overall.
You will:
Provide day‑to‑day leadership, supervision, and coaching to outsourced service providers and internal aviation logistics staff.
Instil a strong culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement within the team.
Coach team members to enhance technical competencies, decision‑making, and customer service skills, supporting personal and professional growth.
Communicate consistently and effectively, role‑modelling Client Cultural Beliefs and Values.
Serve as primary focal point for all aviation logistics management contracts, with direct responsibility for:
Planning and execution of passenger transport to and from offshore assets
Daily oversight and resolution of operational issues with aviation service providers
Review and approval of invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies.
Management of aviation base logistics, ensuring efficient ground operations.
Support for helicopter reduction workscopes and efficiency initiatives.
Project management of abnormal airfreight and specialist aviation movements.
Functional aviation coordination, scheduling, and planning.
Aviation assurance, including participation in audits, inspections, and compliance activities.
Regular performance and governance reviews, including chairing business review meetings.
KPI monitoring, analysis, and implementation of service quality improvements.
Risk and opportunity management, ensuring proactive mitigation and optimisation.
Management of nonconformity processes, ensuring safety‑critical issues are addressed promptly.
Forecasting passenger movement profiles based on predicted and confirmed operational demand.
360° performance management, ensuring both Client and contractors operate collaboratively to achieve expected service levels.
Act as the company’s escalation point for all aviation logistics management matters, ensuring issues are resolved swiftly and effectively.
Develop the aviation logistics management strategy in line with company objectives, operational demand, and the evolving needs of the wider business (including Well Delivery Plans).
Identify, develop, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, minimise risk, and improve service delivery.
Ensure the aviation contracting strategy remains fit for purpose and delivers maximum value to the business.
Support the development and execution of the company’s Logistics Green Strategy, contributing to net-zero goals through innovation, optimisation, and collaboration.
Represent the company at industry events, forums, and stakeholder engagements where required.
Maintain highly positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders across operations, drilling, HSE, supply chain, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
Hold regular feedback sessions to exchange lessons learned, drive transparency, and strengthen collaborative performance.
Promote cross-team coordination, knowledge sharing, and joint problem‑solving to achieve shared operational goals.
Develop the annual aviation logistics budget in partnership with the Logistics Manager and Support Services Accountant.
Ensure outsourced partners deliver work within budgeted outputs and cost expectations.
Provide accurate cost forecasting, variance explanations, and KPI‑driven performance insights.

Commits to training and developing existing logistics competencies to enable the provision of operational cover for aviation operations when necessary.

As a minimum, you have:
Higher Grade Education or relevant Business equivalent experience required
Extensive experience in a logistics management, operations management or supply chain role within the Oil and Gas industry
Highly experienced in aviation logistics operations and practices
