DAY DRILLING SUPERVISOR
Our client, an Oil and Gas Operator is seeking an experience Day Drilling Supervisor to mobilise out of Aberdeen on 16th March 2026 for an initial 3 Week offshore trip. The role could become longer-term.
Reports to: Drilling Superintendent
Supervisory Responsibility: Night Drilling Supervisor, Subsea Supervisor, Completions Supervisor, Wellsite Drilling Engineer, Logistics
Key Job Responsibilities:
Supervise and support project agreed HES processes and initiatives on the rig.
Supervise the drilling of the well in a safe, cost effective and timely manner.
Review and support the Drilling Contractor’s Safety Assessment for any non-routine operations on the rig.
Participate in rig Safety Meetings, Safety Management System and encourage the use of behavioural safety systems.
Review the Drilling Programme in detail and advise the Drilling Superintendent of deficiencies.
Advise of potential improvements to optimise the operation and reduce costs.
Ensure that the Drilling Programme, policies and instructions are properly directed and communicated to the rig team.
Supervise and support well control planning and procedures in conjunction with the rig Scope/Overall
Purpose of Job:
In charge of leading the offshore team, supervising offshore drilling, completion or workover operations.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Supervise and support the well operational activities of all project team members resolving operational problems as they arise with consultation of the onshore operations team.
Be responsible for the timely ordering, checking and subsequent returns of equipment, materials and services necessary for the activities under company control.
Ensures the security of classified information.
Continually evaluates working procedures with a view to time and cost saving.
Trains junior well engineering personnel on the rig.
Responsible for the accuracy of the information in the daily drilling reports, lookahead and other communications with onshore project team.
Ensure the drilling unit and all associated systems are managed and operated within their design envelope for the programmed operations and all planned maintenance, inspection and audits are undertaken by the Rig Contractor.
Assess the experience and competence of contractor and 3rd party service personnel and feedback via reporting lines if deficiencies are identified.
Participate in pre-well planning meetings as required: DWOP/CWOP/AWOP and arrange wellsite pre-spud meetings.
Provide supervision or delegate supervision role to suitable person for all key well activities.
Ensure proper availability and display of all relevant permits, client procedures and consents at wellsite.
Attend and support Drilling Contractor’s offshore safety meetings.
Manage the interface with other Client Assets in line with SIMOPS/COMOPS requirements and raising appropriate permits through the client’s permit control system where necessary.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrated capacity of leadership and ability to manage and motivate an offshore team.
Significant offshore DSV experience.
