INSTRUMENT ENGINEER
Our client, an Oil and Gas Company is seeking an experiences Instrument Engineer. Acting as the onshore technical focal point for instrumentation and metering. This is an initial 12 Month PAYE contract role with a hybrid working system in place. FPSO knowledge is highly desirable.
The Instrument and Control Engineer provide operations and maintenance support to offshore installations.
Function
Acting as the onshore technical focal point for matters on control / instrumentation / telecoms / fiscal and environmental metering and providing support as required to the offshore installation.
Prepare for planned and corrective maintenance activities including but not limited to scope development, vendor selection and procurement support etc.
Review of vendor and close out reports for technical content and ensure corrective work orders for follow up work is raised including further vendor mobilisations as required
Assist in closing out of synergy cases and ORA / HIRA actions as assigned to own discipline
Provide input to asset planning process for yearly to 14-day execution plans for control / instrumentation / telecoms / fiscal and environmental metering scopes
Review and monitor planned maintenance routines and equipment performance and identify continuous improvements required for associated maintenance strategies including update of CMMS
Review and monitor planned maintenance routines and equipment performance and identify requirements for operational and critical spares adjustment to minimise risk.
Identifying modifications required for continuous improvement, obsolescence, set point changes or regulatory compliance and raise modification request as required and agreed as well as reviewing technical content of modifications raised by others.
Monitor daily reporting and equipment breakdown and processing of fiscal and environmental mismeasurements
Monitor Safety Instrumented Functions performance and proof test results taking corrective action as required
Monitor alarm performance preparing monthly KPI and initiating remedial actions for alarm reduction
Produce and submit deferrals for safety critical scopes within area of expertise i.e. control / instrumentation / telecoms / fiscal and environmental metering
Contribute to the development of scope of work for maintenance frame agreements / contracts
Participate in inspections, FAT and offshore surveys as required.
Advising on competency assessments of offshore instrument personnel as requested
Ensure effective implementation of HSEQ&RC requirements in specifications, systems, procedures, maintenance routines and in daily practice
Requirements
A creative and organised Instrument Engineer with excellent interpersonal skills and problem-solving ability.
An HNC/HND or BSc in Instrument Engineering or equivalent (Chartered/Incorporated desirable)
Necessary certification for offshore travel essential.
(TÜV Rhineland) Functional Safety Engineer Certification (preferred).
Demonstrable experience in an operational process environment, preferably within the Offshore / Oil and Gas sector data.
Understanding of UK offshore legislation and fiscal / environmental metering experience.
Understanding of Class & Flag requirements for FPSO’s
Experience in Maximo (preferred)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience in Kongsberg Maritime K-Chief (desirable)
Computer literate in Microsoft Office Applications and relevant discipline specific software.
