LEAD HSE ADVISOR

Our client, an Oil and Gas Operator is seeking an experienced Lead HSE Advisor. This is an initial 6 Month PAYE contract role based in Aberdeen with occasional site and offshore travel.

Reports to HSE Manager

Job Overview:

Provide direct, sustainable, reliable HSE leadership, support, guidance and appropriate challenge to operations

Lead and manage a team of HSE professionals.

Accountabilities:

HSE Program Implementation and Improvement

Assure the implementation of client HSE programs, perform risk assessments, identify improvements, and share best practices.

Contribute HSE input to projects and integrity management (IM) processes.

Identify HSE training, communication, and evaluation processes while monitoring and analysing effectiveness.

Coordinate and manage HSE Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and dashboards to track and report performance, aiding management decisions and raising awareness across employees and contractors.

Align HSE strategies and policies with corporate objectives to support business growth and maintain compliance with regulations.

Implement and maintain the HSEQ Management System and Standards across operations for consistency and compliance.

Leverage digital tools and data analytics for real-time HSE performance monitoring and proactive risk management.

Audits and Compliance:

Conduct internal and external HSE audits, including contractor assessments, to ensure compliance and identify trends for continuous improvement.

Assess and maintain adequate offshore security provisions.

Provide expertise and oversight for radiation management.

Coordinate and manage HSE Intervention planning for On and Offshore assets.

Incident Management and Emergency Preparedness

Coordinate incident investigations, ensuring appropriate levels of inquiry, corrective actions, and follow-up reporting.

Ensure emergency preparedness, conduct drills, and maintain crisis response readiness.

Perform nominated emergency response role/duties and maintain the necessary competencies to perform these duties.

Environmental Responsibility and Sustainability:

Incorporate environmental responsibility, including emissions control, waste management, and sustainability initiatives.

Leadership and Culture

Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical advice to line managers and HSEQ professionals while fostering a pro active safety culture.

Plan for future workforce capability, competence, and succession to build long-term operational effectiveness.

Ensure adherence to the Competence and Training framework, maintaining necessary competency levels within the team.

Manage HSE budgets, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation and risk-based decision-making.

Stay updated on HSE developments, industry best practices, and regulatory changes.

Significant contribution to a proactive culture of risk management and strengthening process safety barriers.

Align HSE strategies and policies with corporate objectives to support business growth and maintain compliance with ISO-14001 and OHSAS 18001.

Leverage digital tools and data analytics for real-time HSE performance monitoring and proactive risk management.

Perform any other reasonable activities that support the HSE agenda and client business objectives.

CMAPP Commitments and HSE Policy

Promotes a positive Incident Free Workplace culture by driving HSES and process safety performance and regulatory compliance through adherence to company standards & procedures, including the client CMAPP and HSES Policy.

Competencies and Qualifications:

Competencies:

A passion for HSE and visible commitment to the client’s values and vision - demonstrated both internally and externally

Team player able to collaborate effectively at all levels of the organisation.

Track record in developing and executing pragmatic solutions and influencing others to move towards consensus

Previous experience of working with technically qualified HSE and Technical (e.g. Well Engineering, Engineering and operational) professionals

Good knowledge of risk management, compliance and emergency response routines and requirements

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Education:

NEBOSH Certificate (minimum) or Diploma (preferred)

Demonstrable experience of at least 5 years working in the oil and Gas sector is

Professional membership of relevant institute or working towards it (e.g. IOSH)

Work Experience:

Experience in either HSE or an operational/technical discipline

Experience across a number of known operating and/or project phases

Certifications

BOSIET/MIST/Offshore Medical
